Fight for girls' sports and girls' spaces

If you refuse to abandon biological reality and women's rights, you're in the right place! The website Rebel Girls, just like the book, is packed with critical stories, articles and interviews about the taboos of our time. From online madness and self-diagnosis on social media, to confusion about biology and the oppression of women in society and religion.

We demand fair sports for girls, and the safety and fun of single sex spaces for girls and women, in schools and shops, in sport clubs and gyms, everywhere it is needed. In public spaces, too, we should be safe, free from harassment and sexual violence from boys and men. We love girls and women, and want you to be strong and financially independent so you can conquer the world. Find positivity in your life, live a healthy lifestyle, make a plan for your future and go for it!

Welcome beautiful lesbians

A special word to our young friends who are gender non-conforming, and think they might be lesbian, bisexual or transgender. Always remember: you are okay just as you are! If you are lesbian, just know there are many wonderful girls like you out there. Leave your screen, go out into the real world and find them. If you think you might be a man, believe us: you are not and you don't need to be. Nobody is born in the wrong body, even if, for a while, that body feels wrong. It might take time to find the right woman, but once you do meet other proud lesbians, you'll be able to solve the puzzle for yourself and be happy.

Free your hair, free your life

Another important note is for the many girls and young women from migrant origin who suffer from religious or cultural restraints, like being forced to wear the hijab, and who are even in danger for simply wanting to live a free life. Be patient, make your own plan for your future. Set reasonable goals for yourself, and ask for help from women and organisations you trust. You are not alone! Many young women are already out there, free, and waiting for you to join them.

Rebels ranging from age 12 to 81

We are proud to announce that The Rebel Girls Project now includes more than seventy participants from around the world. Ladies — thank you, all of you! Fun fact: the youngest contributor is Djenna (12), and the oldest is Dr. Renate Klein (81), one of the directors of Spinifex Press and our role model for shaping a feminist future. The project began as an idea in The Netherlands, where we published our Dutch edition in 2024 — a 368-page book featuring full-colour photographs. That first book included contributions from 45 girls and women from several countries, three men, and two dogs. It was a promising start!

With the English edition, we are now reaching a global audience. Our German edition, which features some of the most extraordinary German feminists — including Eva Engelken, Chairwoman of FrauenHeldinnen — will be released in October by Diametric Verlag.

On the page 'Meet the Contributors', you can see some of the members of our think tank. On the page 'Contact' you can find promo material, video clips and upcoming (online) events. The project has now released three books — in English, German and Dutch. While the core content stays the same, with this unique concept we can adapt and customize it for each country and culture.
